New Delhi : Come 17th July and mobile and digital enthusiasts converge once again to talk about emerging technologies, trends and changes in the mobile eco-system. This time the group meets to talk about Device OEMs.
The Mobile Handset industry in India is undergoing a silent and somewhat under appreciated shift. One can notice a lot of innovation across segments. The top-end of the market is witnessing a Smartphone war with Nokia, Blackberry, iPhone and Android battling it out for developer mindshare. There is a feature Phone war brewing at the lower end of the market.
Homegrown firms like Spice, Micromax, Karbon ,LAVA, and Lemon mobile are slowly garnering user base. This market change represents both challenges and opportunities for developer community. The 10th Mobile Monday Delhi meet-up will discuss and deliberate on how the device OEMs may shape the industry in times to come. The meet-up is a great forum for anyone with a stake, interest or an opinion on the mobile industry.
The remarkable Mobile Monday phenomenon began almost by accident in Helsinki, Finland during the autumn of 2000. A couple of well-known Finnish visionaries, invited the who’s who of the Finnish mobile industry to a pub for an informal get-together and perhaps a warming drink. The only suitable time? Monday evening.
After meeting many new faces and discussing the latest in mobility, the group decided to continue meeting on the first Monday of each month — and thus, Mobile Monday was born. Towards the end of 2004, the movement started to spread to other areas of the world and new MoMo chapters were started in Tokyo, Japan, Silicon Valley, USA as well as Rome and Milan, Italy. Since then, the number of Mobile Monday chapters and members has dramatically increased making Mobile Monday the world’s leading mobile community.
Mobile Monday’s Delhi Chapter (MoMo Delhi) brings together mobile enthusiasts, developers, technologists, business folks, entrepreneurs, VCs under a common forum. The chapter channelizes efforts to develop an active mobile community that can network and share information.
Mobile Monday is a community of mobile professionals. This open community promotes the mobile industry and fosters cooperation and networking among people in the industry and their companies by providing opportunities for personal and virtual contacts. The event, which brings together mobile enthusiasts, technology entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, technology experts, content providers and other stakeholders in the mobile value chain. Momo’s sole objective is to nurture a community of mobile enthusiast in order to facilitate innovation in mobile technologies.
